I would like to welcome our new club members – Cheryl and Brendan, Gail, Ann and Nancy. As our numbers continue to grow we may have to think about another training session to accommodate all our paddlers as for most sessions we have a full boat or close to.
Training for the Ballina Regatta is well on the way and it looks like we will be entering a sports women’s team as well as a mixed team. If you intend to be part of the team make sure you put you name down on the list. Just go to the regatta section on the web site and click link, then scroll through to August and add your name. Don’t forget that there are 2 days of competition – Saturday being the fun day and Sunday the more serious competition day. We will need to nominate 2 team captains very soon so if you would like to volunteer don’t hold back – just let Dot or myself know. Ballina is a great regatta in a beautiful location and for those of you who are yet to experience a regatta - what a great way to start. Coming up soon will be the Coffs Regatta at Mylestom and Jacaranda Regatta at Grafton. The luncheon held at Botero this month was enjoyed by those who were there. The June Lunch will be organised by Chez and will be on the 16th June. Put your name down or contact Chez if you would like to attend. I have been in contact with Maclean Rowing Club requesting permission to launch our boat at the rowing shed on occasions so that we can once again enjoy the beautiful tranquil surroundings of the South Arm waterway. As yet I haven’t had a reply. The AGM is coming up on the 30th July, 2016. The nomination forms for Board selection are on our web site. Carmen Wilson has agreed to be returning officer so as soon as notification is given so if you are considering being part of the Board please get your forms to her. The positions that are to be filled are – President, Secretary, Treasurer and 4 ordinary board members. Our next fund raiser is on the 25th June at Home Hardware in Maclean. As many people as possible will be needed to man the stall, so make sure you put the date on your calendar. See you all on the water – in your winter gear as the mornings are getting colder. Gail Joke for the Month The Memory Clinic Two elderly couples were enjoying friendly conversation when one of the men asked the other, "Fred, how was the memory clinic you went to last month?" "Outstanding," Fred replied. "They taught us all the latest psychological techniques - visualization, association - it made a huge difference for me." "That''s great! What was the name of the clinic?" Fred went blank. He thought and thought, but couldn't remember. Then a smile broke across his face and he asked, "What do you call that red flower with the long stem and thorns?" "You mean a rose?" "Yes, that''s it!" He turned to his wife.. ."Rose, what was the name of that clinic?"
