At the recent AGM both the Presidents & Coaches Reports were tabled. Both reports reinforced that COVID has affected us all. Some more than others but the impact on CCDBC has been significant and ongoing. Whether it be; regattas, training, fundraising, social events, grants or courses, COVID has been front and centre in displaying its annoying side. A strong feeling of not being right or completely safe does tend to permeate our thinking and that’s very understandable. We have been fortunate indeed to have a strong, proactive and competent Board to support the club through these strange times. We thank the Bowlo Sports & Leisure Yamba for their sponsorship of sun safe shirts for the club. It is to be commended that their support keeps us safe.
The coaches have focussed on developing correct paddling technique, building strength and endurance, and challenging individual paddlers to maintain fitness and measure personal improvement by increasing effort at each session. We have hosted visiting paddlers, always conscious of COVID safety guidelines. Everyone has been keen to recruit and welcome new paddlers.
It is great to celebrate Chez as a Level 2 sweep and Kathy as Level 3 sweep; CCDBC now has 5 sweeps which allows us to share the sweeping role.
Congratulations to Lesley as Club Person of the Year. Lesley did keep us busy with the Push-Up Challenge supported again beautifully by Bruce with his never-ending playlists and Graham with the photo / caption challenge. We then moved into Euros 2020. Lesley then created the Virtual Trip to Darwin and of course, there were more challenges there. A fantastic job to keep the club laughing and connected. AND YES we are in lockdown again so to keep our level of fitness and strength up Lesley has found yes wait for it ........ Fitness Madness REVISITED - 9 days of exercise with the PowerPoint in case you have forgotten how to safely do each exercise.
