December Happenings

This will be a fairly brief news report as we have only a few events planned for this month .

Unfortunately our combined paddle with Grafton was not able to take place. Maybe we will be able to arrange it for another date next year.

The big news is, of course, our Christmas lunch which looks like being really well attended. Cheryl has collected names, deposits and meal choices so we are all looking forward to our ferry ride and delicious meal. Don't forget the cafe is BYO so you can enjoy a drink with your lunch. The ferry leaves Yamba at 11 am and returns at 2.30 from Iluka. The ferry fare is about $7.70 each way - less if you are old and grey (a Senior or Concession holder).

Our social luncheon in November was organised by Genie and we all enjoyed a nice lunch at Harwood Hotel. Thanks Genie. Steph is organising January's get-together on 21st January. More details of this in the New Year.

Late addition: We had a great training session today (Saturday 5th) practicing our "man overboard recovery". Seven of our crew took turns at 'falling' out of the boat and returning to the boat using the stirrup. Kathy won the prize for Best Dive and also for Quickest Exit from the Water. Ree decided the water was too nice to leave so had to be towed back to shore after 'injuring her ribs' in her spectacular swan dive. Well done all those who took part - divers/jumpers and recovery assistants. Thanks Chris and Ree for this valuable lesson.

Our last paddle for this year will be on Wednesday 16th December and we will resume after the Christmas break on Saturday 16th January. Let's hope for good weather and good attendance for the last few paddles of the year.

There will be a Board meeting on Thursday 28th January and a General meeting on Saturday 6th February 2016.

Hope you all enjoy a very Happy Christmas with your family and friends and return safely to join us all on the water again in the New Year.

A couple of Christmas laughs:
