Dot, Lyne and myself attended an information night on Tuesday 21st May in Ballina run by representatives from DBNSW. The session included a brief outline of the “new quick and easy” RevSPORT Data base for registration procedure and all the other wonderful things this website offers, new member protection policy and other policies, DBNSW Strategic Plan and 2016/2017 season preview. It was all very interesting and we felt totally lost most of the time and came away none the wiser and very hungry as the promised catering did not eventuate. So many things going on for Sydney and when the question was asked “what about us” there didn’t seem to be any answers. The only thing I can tell you is that the DBNSW fee for 2016/2017 is $115 another increase and I ask “what are we getting for our money”. Our Home Hardware BBQ took place on the 25th May. Not a great profit but a very easy way to have a fundraiser. Lyne, Lin and Chez did a great job of organising everything and I thank them for all they did. Thanks to those who came along to help out on such a cold morning. Unfortunately we have had to cancel a few training sessions lately due to weather conditions not being very favourable. Hopefully it will be full steam ahead from now on with lots of strength and endurance work as a build up to the Ballina regatta. As one of your coaches I believe the team will do really well in Ballina. I have been very impressed with the performance and improvement of all paddlers during training sessions. Once again I remind you all that the AGM is coming up on the 30th July and it is time to consider nominating for the Board. All positions will be vacant – President, Secretary, Treasurer and 4 ordinary directors. The nominations forms are available on our web site and I will also be emailing a copy out to all members with the official notification of the AGM. Keep up the great work everyone. Gail
