March Happenings

It's great to see our training sessions in February so well attended with very few empty seats in the boat. We have been experimenting with launching at Hickey Island for a couple of weeks and now have a good idea of what is or isn't feasible in that area. It does provide us with a very sheltered launch site protected from most winds, especially the nor-easters that can be very strong in the afternoons. Over the next month we will be back to launching at our regular venue of the boat ramp next to Moby Dick Motel.

Our social luncheon in February at the Pacific Hotel was very nice - a great venue, nice meals and great view. Thanks Dot for organizing this. Janine has been nominated to organise our next social gathering which will not be until April. We are missing March as we already have International Women's Day on 11th March which lots of our members are attending as well as several members away during the month. Janine will be in touch later in the month with details of the April lunch.

There were plenty of our club members volunteering for work at the Yamba triathlon and fun run. Thanks to all who put in their time and effort in the heat on Saturday and in the rain on Sunday. This has been a valuable fund-raiser for us in the past so it's great that so many made the effort to help again.

Lynda has booked the club to run the BBQ at Home Hardware in Maclean on June 25th. So put the date in your diary for another fundraiser to help send a team away to a regatta.

It was great to see a good number roll up for the General Meeting earlier in the month. The Board try to work for the benefit of the club, but to do this they need to know what your views and opinions are. The General Meetings are the place to voice your opinions and put forward your ideas so please come along and have a say in the way that our club is run, as all the work done is for the benefit of the members. Your ideas are valued.

Our next meetings will be:

                            Board Meeting - Now will be 14th April changed from 31st March (time and venue to be notified)
                            General Meeting - 7th May (time and venue to be notified)

Also, why not consider nominating for a position on the Board when elections come around in July/August? It is a great way to contribute back to the club and bring new ideas and insight into the organisation.
