I will have to tell you I had a wonderful time in Europe. Arriving in Dubai airport at 4.30a.m. and the temperature was already 38 degrees was very interesting. I had never been in Dubai and was very pleased not to be leaving the airport. After a nice shower and something more to eat (Emirates airlines don’t let you go hungry) we found ourselves a comfortable deck chair and sat back to relax for 9 hours until our connecting flight to Amsterdam.
I loved Amsterdam – very beautiful and the diamond factory wasn’t bad either. Unfortunately my souvenir diamond is still at the factory. Oh well I will save up for the next trip. Our river cruise down the Rhine was the most relaxing, amazing, picturesque trip. Around every bend there was something spectacular to see. Everything was so well done on the ship, and because there were only 128 passengers very personal. We met some lovely people did absolutely everything on offer and ate huge amounts of food accompanied by beautiful wine and beer. What more could you ask for! Leaving the ship in Basel we were transferred to Zürich where we boarded our coach tour. We travelled through Switzerland, Italy than 30 minutes later back in Switzerland, than back in Italy and so on. I lost track of which country I was in half the time. I hadn’t realised how close the countries were. All amazing and beautiful although I would have to say after the relaxing river cruise the coach tour was a bit hectic and of course just my luck they were having a heat wave. Temperatures were 35 36 degrees and of course no air conditioning or even fans in most hotels. Already planning next year’s trip and it will most certainly involve a river cruise. Almost time for the Jacaranda regatta and it is great to see so many names down to participate. Dot has been doing a wonderful job in training the team and I would like to thank her for her dedication to our club. It has been relayed to me that the Pacific Valley Christian School students had a great time Dragon Boating. Hopefully they will be keen to continue on next term. Don’t forget get your names down for the Christmas Party at the Golf Club. It sounds like it will be a fun night. Gail
