2017  -  A NEW YEAR

Here we are in 2017 and ready to start the new  year with great enthusiasm.  What will it bring you may ask – who knows – could be a new boat, an overfull boat at every training session, resignations and retirement of paddlers or an exciting year for our club with loads of new members and trophies.  Only time will tell.  Whatever happens, the friendships developed over the years will remain and that is the important thing.

Our Christmas party at the end of last year was a great success enjoyed by everyone who attended. Thanks to Lin and Jenny for doing such a great job organising the event.

Grafton club has extended an invitation to us to join them in a paddle at Ulmarra followed by breakfast at the pub on Australia Day.  This will be a fun morning and hopefully the conditions on the water will be favourable.  The theme for the day is Aussie, so get out you zinc cream, board shorts and thongs.

Club fees, for those who haven’t paid the full year are now due.  If there any changes to be recorded on your membership such as medical information, change of address, phone number or email addresses please complete a new membership form – these are available on the club website.

The new style singlet with cap sleeves and long sleeve shirt will be available this year.  If you would like to purchase one of these please see Lyne Rae.  They are available at a cost of $42 each. This will not replace the already existing uniform, they are just offered as an alternative choice.

A reminder to put your name on the web site paddle page if you wish to participate in a training session or alternatively if you are unable to do that a text message to Dot or myself would do.  It is also necessary to let one or both of us know if you are unable to make it to training.  As our numbers grow and people are so keen to train we need to know prior to the session how many paddlers  are expected.  Cut off times to put your name down is 12 noon on a Wednesday and 6pm on Friday evening.

There will be a General Meeting on the 28th January, 2017.  Come along and have your say in the running of your club.

Bron and Nigel are back – how great is that.  Their company has been greatly missed. Welcome home Bron and Nigel.
Looking forward to another great year of paddling on our beautiful river!
