We have a big month coming up with meetings, more fundraising and another regatta. It's all happening for the CCs! Our AGM will be held Saturday 8th August at 10.30 at Yamba Bowling Club in the Board Room. Have your coffee after training then head to the Club so that we can start on time. Everyone is encouraged to come along. It's your club, have your say on the composition of the Board or on any other matters that concern you. Rainbows regatta is on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd August. Saturday's races usually involve round robin 100 metre sprints. These are great fun, a dash for the line - you won't even have time to get tired. 200 metre races are held on Sunday. The regatta is held in the calm waters of Shaws Bay. There is a caravan park with cabin accommodation right on the bay so you can walk to the venue from your cabin, or otherwise there are plenty of motels etc in Ballina. It is a very social event with Saturday evening drinks at the Shaws Bay Hotel. If you haven't entered your name on the Regatta page yet, please do so, as the coaches need to start work on our regatta preparation. Let's pick up where we left off in our last heat at Urunga! Link to the caravan park: http://www.northcoastholidayparks.com.au/park/info/shaws-bay Mention that you are there for the regatta and you may get a discount. We have another fundraiser this month following on from our hugely successful market stall. If you haven't heard, we raised $634.50 from our cake and book stall. A great effort. We are holding a movie premiere at Yamba Cinema on Thursday 27th August, starting at 10 am. We are providing morning tea, holding raffles, a chocolate wheel etc before the showing of Ricki and The Flash which stars Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline and Rick Springfield. Tickets will be $15 each and we are having flyers printed for you to hand out to all your friends so that we fill the seats and raise lots more funds for equipment. While Chris and Ree are off in Russia drinking vodka and learning Cossack dances we will have Chris Moran keeping us on the water as sweep for the next month. We are extremely grateful to Chris for stepping in and giving up his time and sharing his knowledge with us. This will also be very beneficial to our trainee sweeps (the ones looking scared sh....ss at the back of the boat). Anyone who would like to do something really valuable for the club is encouraged to think about undertaking a Coaching Course. These courses are conducted by DBNSW at regular times during the year and they are holding one in Ballina on Saturday 22nd August (to coincide with the regatta there). Contact Gail or Dot if you are interested. Your Club Needs You!
