The Jacaranda Regatta has come and gone. It was fantastic to see our purple colours competing in a sports women’s team as well as a mixed team. Congratulations to you all for the fantastic effort you all put in preparation before the regatta and at the regatta. Well done everyone! Congratulations to Ree and Wayne on completing their sweeps races. I hope you all got a copy of the Independent Newspaper and checked out the great publicity we received. No one else seemed to be of interest to the photographer.
Maclean High School gave CVAS a run for their money again this year – I thought they had won – but unfortunately the dragon hadn’t shaved that morning and his whiskers where just a centimetre too long. Never mind, there is always next year and with maybe a little more training before the regatta they will blitz it.
Even though I was unable to leave the officials tent to wish you all good luck on the regatta day, seeing our team on the water made me very proud to be a member of Clarence Coast Dragon Boat Club and I have been told by good authority that everyone really enjoyed their day and that’s what it is all about – fun, fun and more fun.
Welcome to all our new members – it has been fantastic to see so many people wanting to try out.
Don’t forget our Christmas break up party at the Yamba Golf Club on 16th December commencing at 7p.m. Put your name down on the web site or contact Lin or Jenny.
Our last training session for 2016 will be Saturday 10th December and training will resume on Saturday 14th January, 2017.
There will be a General Meeting on Saturday 28th January, 2017 (venue to be advised). A full attendance of members would be great as planning for 2017 will take place at this meeting.
This will be the last newsletter for 2016 – I would like to wish all of you a great Christmas and a relaxing break. I look forward to spending time with you all again in 2017.
Stay safe –
Ho! Ho! Ho! Wishing everyone a very happy Christmas !
